Michaela is a Bulgarian-Turkish filmmaker and freelance photojournalist based in San Francisco. She is a graduate from UC Berkeley Graduate School of Journalism and has published work in the New York Times, San Francisco Chronicle, Washington Post Magazine, CalMatters, San Francisco Standard and others. Her reporting interests revolve around areas she has a personal connection to: parenthood, migration, state sanctioned assimilation. Michaela is mom to a cool and curious, interracial toddler. Panamanian tisoy multimedia artist Ash Ponders (b. 1986) lives in the Sonoran Desert making visuals rooted in the history of both the environment and the people that live there for newspapers and art galleries. Their art has been covered by the New York Times, BBC, CNN and Teen Vogue. Their journalism has been commissioned by NYT, National Geographic, WSJ, WaPo, San Francisco Chronicle, The Intercept, NPR, PRI, PBS, HCN, Smithsonian, Audubon and La Prensa. Jovelle is a multimedia visuals editor and documentary photographer who is currently a multimedia editor at The Marshall Project. At The Marshall Project, they work with photojournalists, illustrators and other visual storytellers to report on prisons, police, courts, and the people who are harmed by the criminal justice system. They are a photo/video journalist and have been published internationally, in outlets like The Guardian UK/US, The New York Times, The Washington Post, TIME magazine, California Sunday Magazine and High CoRamon Domporuntry News. Noemi is a member of Juntos Photo, an author of the Photo Bill of Rights, a 2020 grantee of Art d’Core Gala and a 2022 National Endowment for the Arts grantee. She works in Mexico and the US Southwest. Her work has been commissioned by Nike, Guardian-US, NYLON Magazine, Women Lead Nepal and US for UNHCR and her multimedia art installations have been featured at the Phoenix Art Museum, Sedona Center for Arts and The Sagrado Galería. Laura is a photographer and filmmaker working in southern Arizona and Southwest Virginia. Her work focuses on community, resistance and extraction in the Appalachian region where she grew up, as well as stories looking at the historical understanding of forced migration, for-profit detention and how these impact the growing industry of US border militarization. She is a member of the Juntos Photo, Women Photograph and is an IWMF fellow. Laura’s work has been exhibited in the UK + US, with organizations including the Bronx Documentary Center and Looking at Appalachia. Caitlin is a photojournalist and member of Juntos Photo based in the Sonoran Desert (Phoenix, Arizona). She studied Journalism at Indiana University in Bloomington and Korean Language at Yonsei University in Seoul, South Korea. She aims to create accountable relationships with people over long-term documentary work. O'Hara is a practiced marathon runner and avid birder. She was certified in SCUBA down to 60ft in 2022.
